Problem Statement
How can the house at Offgrid Oase be renovated into an energy-positive home while maximizing the use of recyclable and locally grown materials?
Objective
To develop a renovation plan that:
- Achieves an energy-positive home.
- Maximizes the use of circular construction materials.
- Investigates the potential for locally grown materials, such as biobased construction materials.
Research Questions
- Which sustainable building materials can be used to create an energy-positive home?
- What are the possibilities for growing building materials locally on the available 14,000 m² of land?
- Which design strategies support a circular renovation with minimal CO2 emissions?
- How can energy-positive design be integrated into a circular renovation approach?
Expected Outcomes
This plan will include technical drawings, material studies, and implementation recommendations.
The thesis aims to deliver a blueprint for circular home renovation applicable to similar projects in the Netherlands.
