Planet-friendly Consumption

The program ‘Planet-Friendly Consumption’ consists of a series of modules that teach secondary education students to think and act towards future-proof solutions to issues such as resource scarcity and global warming, which are partly caused by overconsumption and waste, within a biobased and circular context. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach, bringing not only technical aspects to life but also the societal significance for future professionals. With the right amount of guidance, the assignments are suitable for all levels of secondary education starting from the second year. During the execution, students learn study skills that align with higher vocational education.

The modules are linked to eight different themes, which you can find below. Each module includes teacher instructions (including a task description for students if applicable) and a presentation for the lesson. Together, all the modules can also serve as a foundation for a project week; see here for an example of how this could look.

If you’re a subject teacher looking for more inspiration or topics related to the biobased and/or circular economy that are specific to your subject, click here for Dutch, English, Social Studies, Economics, History, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

The program has been developed by teachers and staff from the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy (CoE BBE), a collaboration between HZ University of Applied Sciences and Avans University of Applied Sciences, made possible by the Foundation for the Promotion of Higher Education and the provinces of Zeeland and North Brabant.
