It involves a variety of facilities and applications. Take bioplastics, for example: spread across the Biobased Lab and the BAC, we have equipment for synthesizing and analyzing, creating test pieces and prototypes, testing them, and breaking them down again. For the biobased composites bridge, we were pleased to have a large empty hall at SPARK. Of course, we don’t have everything in-house. In our KLAC, we test biobased textiles for color fastness, but the University of Maastricht produces the fibers.
In our region, we collaborate with organizations such as NAC, Rusthoeve, Bioscienz, and VARTA. The best part of our locations is that they are filled with motivated students from universities, colleges, or vocational schools. They gain knowledge and work experience here. The engagement with real business questions makes us sought after: each year, we host around 80 graduates and interns. We take pride in our facilities. When we guide visitors around, they are often surprised by the possibilities.
