In early 2018, the signatures were added to the letter of intent for the Joint Research Center Zeeland (JRCZ). The JRCZ is a joint research laboratory for students, researchers, companies and the government. The new institute will be housed next to the current HZ University of Applied Sciences location at Het Groene Woud in Middelburg.
WORKING TOGETHER FOR INNOVATION
The JRCZ will work on issues that are relevant in a delta area like Zeeland. Students from Scalda, the HZ (co-owner of the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy) and University College Roosevelt (UCR) will soon be working closely together in the inspiring and innovative working environment with modern research laboratories and practical areas.
CONNECTION IN THE REGION
The knowledge acquired can be applied in numerous companies. The JRCZ provides a link between the knowledge institutions, research facilities and the business community in the region. Other research institutes – such as the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research and Wageningen Marine Research – and companies can also make use of the research facilities.
RESEARCH THEMES
The research themes are closely related to Zeeland’s DNA: water, energy and food. The aim is to have the institute operational in 2022. CoE BBE is looking forward to working on great projects here.
