The consortium wants to investigate the possibility of making shipping from transports from Russia to European seaports such as Dordrecht, Ghent and Delfzijl more sustainable. The ships which we investigate are transporting wood pellets and have a maximum cargo load of 4000 tonnes.

Environmental analyzes (ISO 14040) will be carried out for various fuel scenarios through the GABI program and a comparison will be made with truck transports. The current status of biofuels for use in seagoing vessels will be examined, while financial stimulation options such as Dutch HBE certificates and engine technology will also be examined.
